I’m Shannon Stott, lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin in the Center for Integrated Design and Creative Creator of Improv | On and Off the Stage. For more than 23 years I’ve worked across three continents with entrepreneurs, women’s groups, artists, and global leadership programs, guiding people to strengthen communication from the inside out.

My work blends improvisation and body awareness, to explore the deeper mechanics of communication: how we understand ourselves, how we recognize and intergrate the micro, macro and organizational cultures around us.
Practice with me, when the stakes are low, with play, movement, and collaboration, and achieve communicating with clarity, confidence, and care, when the stake are high.​
Why This Work Matters
I guide individuals and organizations to communicate with greater clarity, empathy, and confidence, starting with communication with the self. Through improvisation, we will learn how to express ourselves meaningfully, listen deeply to others, and navigate different perspectives with curiosity rather than defensiveness. The result is stronger collaboration, more authentic leadership, and communities that communicate with intention across cultures, roles, and identities. This is how we build worlds. Communities I Work With
I work with organizations, institutions, and communities that recognize communication as the foundation of meaningful leadership and collaboration. My work resonates particularly with international leadership programs, universities, arts and culture organizations, health and wellness communities, and mission-driven companies seeking deeper engagement with the communities they serve. I frequently partner with groups focused on cross-cultural dialogue, women’s leadership and LGBTQIA+ communities. My guidance flourishes in communities and organizations where genuine respect and curiosity of the self and others play an essential role to building healthier connections.

Hi, I'm Shannon Stott
I grew up moving across Europe and Africa every few years. Each move took nearly a year to understand a new culture—how to listen, enter a room, and truly belong. When I discovered improv, I realized those same skills could be practiced in seconds: reading the room, listening deeply, and adapting in real time. Today I use improv to help teams and organizations strengthen communication, understand different perspectives, and build cultures where people collaborate more effectively and thrive together.
